At Charlottesville Gastroenterology we have an integrated team approach to health care delivery, which we feel best meets our patients' needs. In addition to seeing a physician, you may also see one of our nurse practitioners during your visit. A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse who has advanced education and clinical training. Since March of 1992, nurse practitioners have been coordinating the clinical research studies, as well as seeing patients in collaboration with the physicians.
